Presentation on ASPEN HYSYS and its Applications
A presentation on ASPEN HYSYS and its applications were presented at the Chemical and Process Engineering Department seminar room on 11th June 2014 by Mr. Isuru Abeykoon, who is currently a PhD Researcher at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Both academic staff and undergraduate students benefited from this program. A comparison of the software ASPEN Plus and HYSYS and an introduction to dynamic simulations with HYSYS were given by carrying out an example simulation on a multi-component distillation column. Applications of those software packages were further elaborated on existing chemical process plants, where such simulations are widely used in predicting the optimum production and efficiency. The presentation was quite an eye opener to the students in the Department where plans are underway to introduce the new petroleum engineering focus area.
