Sustainable Business Team of MAS Active Trading (Pvt) Ltd visited the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering on 14th October, 2015 and conducted an awareness session themed “Fostering Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Culture at Workplace”.  This was organized in line with the National Occupational Safety and Health Week which fell within 12th October to 16th October. The aim of this session was to increase the awareness on occupational health and safety among the Chemical and Process Engineering undergraduates.

Prof. Padma Amarasinghe of the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering visited the University of Arizona (UOA) and the Arizona State University (ASU), USA in October 2015. She delivered a seminar on ‘Waste Biomass - Potential Adsorbent for Wastewater Treatment’ at the School for Engineering of Matter, Transport and Energy of ASU. Staff and research students working in the Environmental Engineering group attended this seminar. Prof. Padma also had discussions with several senior staff members of the Department of Chemical Engineering in both universities on research projects, possibilities of admitting Chemical and Process Engineering graduates from the University of Moratuwa for postgraduate studies and novel teaching and assessment methods for undergraduate studies.

Professional Development Program for CPE Undergraduates

The professional development program ‘Nestle Education Responsibility Initiative (NERI)’ was successfully conducted for Semester 7 Chemical and Process Engineering (CPE) undergraduates on 10th June 2015 by a visitor from Nestle Lanka PLC. Through this program, CPE undergraduates were given an awareness of how to identify their weaknesses and talents. The program also offered them with valuable insight into the corporate world and the demands of a local multinational company moulding them to become attractive and employable talent.
